St. Louis Based Ochiwear Announces the Winners of Their Model Search St. Louis
– May 10, 2012 – St. Louis based Ochiwear, a national online retailer of stylish and affordable eyeglasses, announced today the winners of their model search for their nation marketing campaign.
In late April, amateur and professional models came out to Ochiwear’s St. Louis showroom and eyecare boutique, Contemporary Vision Center, to be photographed and enter the contest. Three esteemed judges – Suzy Bacino, style editor for Town and Style, Professor Florence Dewan, Chairperson of the Fashion Design Program at Lindenwood University, and Lauran Kathleen Plank, Fashion Designer and recent top 5 placing contestant on the popular TV show Project Runway – picked the finalist. The finalists were posted on Ochiwear’s facebook page and their fans voted for their favorite two men and two women to be models in Ochiwear’s national campaign.
With over 4,400 votes in total, Ochiwear’s facebook fans chose the top 4 models. The grand prize winner, receiving over 1,300 votes and winning the prize of $1,000, was Jade Owens, a professional model from Centro Models in St. Louis. The top two men and women were: Jade Owens, John Norvell, Amy Lauber and Nic Balducci. They will be featured in Ochiwear's national marketing materials, modeling their designer eyewear.

Accuracy
of Online Eyewear, Historic Issues, Huge Opportunities
Online prescription eyewear is not a new concept, but it has
been gaining popularity, especially with younger consumers who are used to
buying everything online. Unfortunately, being mostly unregulated, many
companies have entered the online eyewear market without the proper
professional background that is needed in a specialty like prescription
eyewear.
The results, per a study in 2011, were clear inaccuracies.
That study, published by the Journal of the American Optometric Association,
concluded that, “Nearly half of prescription spectacles delivered directly by
online vendors did not meet either the optical requirements of the patient's
visual needs or the physical requirements for the patient's safety.” Dr. Traci Hahn saw this as an opportunity
for improving the online eyewear industry, by bringing her professional
oversight and unwavering standards of care and service.
Their boutique is building a reputation for unique fashion
eyewear in St. Louis, with eye glasses brands like Gucci, Dior, Fendi and Hackett London.
Online with ochiwear.com, they are aiming at a broad selection of fashion and designer glasses and sunglasses with a large core of value priced, yet stylish, frames. With
affordable lens options, complete pairs start at just $99, with FREE shipping
and returns. Plus, they donate a portion of every online sale to a charity of
the customers’ choice.
